The Ultimate Guide to Eyelash Extensions in Vancouver - 2026
It All Begins Here
JT Beauty Parlour · 1726 Kingsway, East Vancouver · Since 2018
Getting lash extensions for the first time is a little nerve-wracking. We know — our clients tell us all the time. They've seen a horror story online, heard a friend's bad experience, or just have no idea what to actually ask for when they sit down in the chair.
So we wrote this. Just everything we wish every client knew before their first appointment.
The Lash Styles — And How to Actually Choose
Most salons offer six or seven styles, and the names alone are confusing. Here's how we actually explain it to clients:
Classic is one extension on each natural lash. Clean, polished, defined. If you wear mascara every day and want that look without the mascara — this is it.
Hybrid is where we spend the most time explaining, because it's the most popular and the most misunderstood. It's a mix of classic and volume, but that doesn't mean "medium everything." A good hybrid set has real texture — wispy in some spots, fluffy in others. Most people who say they want "natural" actually want hybrid once they see the difference. Hybrid is the most popular — see our hybrid lash sets here
Volume uses fans of very fine extensions instead of single lashes. Fuller and softer than classic, not heavy when done right. A lot of clients with sparse natural lashes prefer this because it fills in gaps that classic can't.
Russian Volume is the same idea, just more refined. Handmade fans, more density, a more polished result. It takes longer and costs more — but the difference shows.
Wispy is the style blowing up on social right now. Spiky tips, layered look, a little dramatic. Think of it as volume with personality. It photographs incredibly well, which is why it's popular for weddings and events here in Vancouver, especially during cherry blossom season.
Mega Volume is exactly what it sounds like. Maximum density. Not for everyone, but if you love a bold lash, this delivers.
Not sure which suits you? Just tell us the vibe you're going for — or bring a reference photo. We'll figure it out from there.
The Damage Question — Let's Be Real About This
"Will these ruin my lashes?" is the first thing about half our new clients ask. And they're right to ask.
The answer depends entirely on the artist and the technique. Extensions applied with the wrong weight, or without properly isolating each natural lash, do cause damage over time — the constant tension pulls lashes out prematurely and disrupts the growth cycle. We've had clients come in after a bad experience elsewhere, and you can see it immediately. Lashes sparse in patches, uneven regrowth, weakened roots.
But here's what people don't always hear: when it's done correctly, extensions don't stress the natural lash at all. The extension sits on the lash, not the skin. No pulling, no strain. And a good artist looks at your lash health at every fill — if your natural lashes need a break, they'll say so.
A few things worth checking before you book anywhere:
Do they do a consultation before starting, or just sit you down?
Can you see healed photos of their work — not just freshly-applied sets right off the table?
Do they ask about your lifestyle, skincare routine, or previous reactions?
If the answer is no across the board — keep looking.

How Long They Actually Last
The standard answer is 4 to 6 weeks for a full set, with fills every 2 to 3 weeks. That's accurate as a baseline, but it leaves out a lot.
Your natural lashes shed constantly — 3 to 5 per day on average. When a natural lash goes, the extension goes with it. That's biology, not a bad glue job. Everyone's lash cycle is a little different, so two people can follow the same aftercare routine and one will need a fill at two weeks while the other stretches to three.
What genuinely affects how long yours last:
Sleep position matters more than most people expect. Side and stomach sleepers lose extensions faster — friction against the pillow loosens the bond overnight. A silk pillowcase helps, but doesn't fully fix it.
Oily skin and heavy eye creams are another common culprit. Oils slowly break down the adhesive bond. If you use retinol or a rich moisturizer close to your eye area, it's worth adjusting where and how you apply it.
Exercise is fine. Sweat itself isn't the problem — it's skipping the cleanse afterward. Letting salt and buildup sit on the lash line all day is harder on retention than the workout ever was.
Aftercare That Actually Works
The biggest myth we still hear: "Don't get them wet for 48 hours."
That used to be standard advice when older adhesives were more sensitive to moisture. Modern formulas cure faster. After the first 24 hours, clean lashes actually hold extensions better than dirty ones — buildup at the base weakens the bond over time. So yes, wash them.
What good aftercare looks like in practice:
First 24 hours — keep them dry. Skip the steam room, the intense workout, the long hot shower. Just give the adhesive time to fully set.
After that — brush with a clean spoolie every morning. Cleanse every one to two days with a foaming lash cleanser. It doesn't need to be expensive. Oil-free, gentle, consistent. That's it.
What to avoid — waterproof mascara (the remover destroys the bond), oil-based eye makeup, rubbing your eyes, and sleeping face-down.
Clients who follow this keep their lashes looking full for weeks longer than those who don't. It really is that simple.
What You Should Expect to Pay in Vancouver
Lash pricing in Vancouver varies a lot — full sets range from around $90 at budget studios to over $250 at high-end salons. The difference usually comes down to the artist's training, the products used, and how much time they take.
At JT Beauty Parlour, our sets start from $110 CAD:
Classic Full Set - from $110
Hybrid Full Set - from$130
Volume/ Russian Volume - from$150
Wispy /Mega Volume - from $160
Fill (2–3 weeks) - from $60
East Vancouver tends to be more reasonably priced than Yaletown or Coal Harbour — but the quality depends on the individual artist, not the neighbourhood. A $90 set that damages your lashes costs more to fix than you saved. Worth keeping in mind.

Questions We Hear All the Time
How long do eyelash extensions last in Vancouver? A full set lasts 4 to 6 weeks, but most clients come in for a fill every 2 to 3 weeks to stay looking full. How long yours last comes down mostly to aftercare habits and your natural lash cycle — not the brand of adhesive.
Do eyelash extensions hurt? Not at all. You lie down with your eyes closed the whole time. Most of our clients fall asleep.
What's the difference between classic and volume lashes? Classic is one extension per natural lash — defined and clean. Volume uses fans of ultra-fine extensions for a fuller look. Hybrid mixes both. Most first-timers end up going hybrid once they see the options side by side.
Can I still wear eye makeup? Yes — just avoid anything oil-based near your lash line, and skip waterproof mascara. Water-based liner and a lash-safe cleanser are both fine.
Are they okay for sensitive eyes? We use vegan adhesives at JT Beauty, which are gentler than standard formulas. If you've had reactions before, we do a patch test before committing to a full set.
How do I find a good lash salon near me in Vancouver? Look at healed photos — not just fresh sets — on their social media. Ask if they do consultations. Check whether they talk about lash health, not just aesthetics. And read recent Google reviews, not just the star rating.
What's the best lash style for a natural look? Classic, if you genuinely want minimal. But if you want something that looks like "your lashes on a really good day," hybrid is usually what people are actually picturing when they say natural.
How do I prepare for my first appointment? Come with clean eyes — no mascara, no makeup. Avoid caffeine right before (it can cause eye fluttering during the appointment). The session is 1.5 to 2 hours, so get comfortable. Bring headphones if you like.
